The shear title of that thread makes me cringe, I cannot begin to fathom how people can reasonably attempt to stereotype then discriminate against an entire religion?Steve3007 wrote: ↑August 12th, 2018, 6:15 amI wonder if this is in any way relevant to the whole "Should we ban Muslim immigration?" thing that's raging away in another topic. Apparently, at least according to some people, it's different for Islam. It needs no interpretation to work out that it's evil. Or so I'm told.Felix wrote:Right, well what Christ said and how people interpreted what he said (especially those who made a religion of his teachings) are two different things. Reading the gnostic gospels makes that clear.

Such division and discrimination is part of their daily understanding of the world. An all too convenient and casual prejudice which we all share to some degree - be that nationalism, patriotism, exceptionalism ad nauseam.Thinking critical wrote: ↑August 13th, 2018, 6:35 amThe shear title of that thread makes me cringe, I cannot begin to fathom how people can reasonably attempt to stereotype then discriminate against an entire religion?Steve3007 wrote: ↑August 12th, 2018, 6:15 am

“When you call yourself an Indian or a Muslim or a Christian or a European, or anything else, you are being violent. Do you see why it is violent? Because you are separating yourself from the rest of mankind. When you separate yourself by belief, by nationality, by tradition, it breeds violence. So a man who is seeking to understand violence does not belong to any country, to any religion, to any political party or partial system; he is concerned with the total understanding of mankind.”
― Jiddu Krishnamurti
This is a tough act to follow, and I'm willing to bet none of us here are capable of doing that.

I guess that would depend on what the muslims want to immigrate.... We'd definitely want to ban that extreme Islamic sect called Sufi's, damned worshippers of beauty and peace, last thing we need is people preaching such a perverse radical agenda.Steve3007: I wonder if this is in any way relevant to the whole "Should we ban Muslim immigration?"
