Pest Control Please

Post by Spiral Out »

Is this site no longer moderated?

We seem to have an infestation of small-minded children who are only capable of trolling and trying to cause flame wars.

We need some pest control.

I think what needs to be done is that new members will need to be automatically put on a moderation queue until they have a certain number of approved posts.
My entire political philosophy summed up in one tweet.

"The mind is a wonderful servant but a terrible master."

I believe spiritual freedom (a.k.a. self-discipline) manifests as bravery, confidence, grace, honesty, love, and inner peace.

Okay, I have made the change. Now newly registered users will have there posts held until a moderator approves the post. Members are considered 'newly registered' for this purpose until they have had a few approved posts. Also, during this time they will not be able to send PMs.

I would like to have some volunteers to help moderate the queue to reduce wait times for new members' posts to be approved.

Wouldnt it be better to let members approve posts? Similarly to YouTube, post would remain invisible if it received too many "spam" marks. I understand why new account of DU was banned and his posts deleted, but some of his posts weren't spam (actually none of which I read was) and some were great. I remember at least one taken straight from my thoughts, unfortunately I forgot to copy it before it was deleted.

Hello Scott Ji,

Code: Select all

Will individuals here help as a volunteer to help moderate the line to lessen hold up time? On the off chance that so I would likewise, similar to winding out beneath, as to help.

I was going to shift needless back and forth’s to here. Apparently I cannot “move posts” though because I cannot find some “number.”

I’ll just split topics and title “Off Topic,” then lock them, as and when the need arises (which will likely not occur more than perhaps once or twice a year.

Think of it as “pruning”.

I am locking this thread as it is attracting spam by dodgy pest control businesses.
